At The Pittie Project PNW, we are committed to matching each dog with a home that is ready, prepared, and fully committed to giving them the structure, leadership, and lifetime support they deserve. Please read the information below carefully before submitting your application.

OUR ADOPTION PROCESS:

1. Pay the Application Fee
A small, nonrefundable fee helps cover the cost of processing your application.

2. Submit Your Application
Tell us about yourself, your home environment, and your experience with dogs.

3. Phone Interview
If your application appears to be a good fit, we will schedule a phone interview to learn more about your lifestyle and expectations.

4. Meet & Greet
You will meet the dog in person to ensure the match feels right for everyone.

5. Adoption Day
If everyone agrees it is a great fit, you will pay the adoption fee, sign the adoption agreement, and take home your new family member.

ADOPTION FEES:

• Puppies/Adults: $550

• Seniors: $295

This includes: spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if needed).
All dogs are thoroughly vetted, and their records are available to potential adopters.

ADOPTION POLICIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Right to Decline:

We reserve the right to decline any application if we feel the home is not in the dog’s best interest. Every decision is made with the dog’s long-term safety and success as our priority.

Non-Refundable Application Fee:

The $25 application fee is a nonrefundable donation, even if the dog you applied for becomes unavailable or is adopted before your application is reviewed.

Alternative Suggestions:

If the dog you applied for is not the right match, we are happy to recommend other dogs in our program who may be a better fit.

Responsible Adoption Commitment:

If we believe our program may not be the best fit for your expectations, lifestyle, or handling style, we may recommend exploring adoption with another rescue or shelter.

COMMITMENT, STRUCTURE & WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN ADOPTING FROM US:

All adoption fees and application fees are nonrefundable.

When you adopt from The Pittie Project PNW, you are bringing home a living, breathing animal. Even the most stable dogs experience new environments differently. It is normal for accidents, uncertainty, and new behaviors to arise during decompression and adjustment.

Some behaviors only appear once a dog is in a new home and can vary based on:
• your home environment
• your structure, leadership, and boundaries
• your consistency and follow-through
• how you introduce the dog to the household
• how you handle decompression
• the expectations you set from day one

GO HOME GUIDE:

Every adopter receives our detailed Go Home Guide, created from years of experience working with hundreds of dogs. This guide outlines the structure and consistency that prevent most common problems and set both you and your dog up for long-term success.

We will always share everything we know about each dog’s history and behavior — but no rescue can predict every scenario or every behavior that may emerge in a new home.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS AN ADOPTER:

It is your responsibility to:
• follow the guidance provided
• offer leadership, boundaries, and structure
• remain consistent
• stay committed to working through normal challenges
• understand that rescue dogs need time, patience, and clarity

We cannot be responsible for a lack of follow-through, inconsistent leadership, ignoring the Go Home Guide, or treating a dog as a “trial.”

Refund Policy:

Out of respect for our dogs, our small team, and our limited resources, adoption fees are never refunded under any circumstances.

If you are not ready to commit, work through challenges, or take structure seriously, we strongly encourage you to adopt from another organization.

Our dogs deserve adopters who are all-in.
